The passage in-between Dante’s circles of Hell? Some twisted purgatory? Or is it simply an expression of the stiff, contorted and vulnerable feelings of having to wait (as one woman suggested on Facebook)? You decide.
Loosely inspired by “Death and the Maiden”, this piece (there’s a few more to go) was created for a little magazine inclusion coming out in April. However, as of this moment I’m not entirely sure that’s going to happen. Sadly the wonderful lady that’s handling all of that has been quite ill for some time. In any case, I’ll keep working and will share updates about the mag as I get them.
The other morning I woke up with this stuck in my head and had to get it out. I’m not sure I really consider this a finished “piece” but I kinda dig it for what it is. I was pretty lucky to have all the parts available to put it together as a kind of matte painting.
I’ve just discovered ImageKind and I’m wondering where they’ve been all my life. This site is amazing. If you’re interested in purchasing fine art prints, this is definitely the place. You have 7 different paper options, a multitude of gorgeous matting options, and a massive selection of frames. It’s a one stop shop. Love it!
“The Heart of Darkness” is a dark art collective of artists from Wisconsin unveiling their first annual show Saturday May 19th, 2012.
There will be a couple of guest artists and I’m one of them! The poster below is the first of more to come as details get lined out. This will be an incredible show and I’m honored to exhibit with such amazing artists. On the board so far is:
The collaborative piece Rich Brewer and I have been working on is complete! Now we sit with our fingers crossed and wait for response to see if it will be accepted in the show.
I’ve been working on a collaborative piece with Rich Brewer, a local, extremely talented illustrator and writer. He sent me a drawing and a poem and it was my job to bring it all together. This has been a new experience for me. I’ve never done a collaborative project like this before, but it’s really been a blast and I’m hoping to work like this more in the future. Our goal with this is to submit it to the Aleister Crowley “Do What Thou Wilt” Art Show. Wish us luck!
I’ll share this piece tonight once it’s completed.
A great little article from Artist Daily with advice on breaking the winter creative block. While the article is primarily targeted for plein air artists, I think we all could use some of these tips.
